General description: Grand Friday MosqueGrand Friday Mosque is one of the tourist attractions in Male City in the Maldives. This is one of the oldest sacred places in the Maldives which dates back to approximately the 1650s. In the past, the square on which the mosque is built was a location of another temple. The minaret which is visible in the front of the building was constructed in the 1670s.
The white walls are probably the major highlight of this place. When the tourists start to approach Grand Friday Mosque, they will be able to see the detailed carvings present on its external walls. The building is still used by the local devotees, thus it would be advisable to dress appropriately.
