General description: Nerja CavesThe Nerja Caves are locate in Andalusia in Spain. They are considered to be one of the most important historical sites in the region of Andalusia. They were discovered in 1959 by five boys dwelling the village of Maro who visited the region in order to hunt for bats.
The Nerja Caves are a system of gigantic caverns that have got approximately 5 kilometers. These caves house the largest stalagmite in the world and they are divided into three main galleries. Namely, Show Gallery, New Gallery, and Upper Gallery.
The experience will be perfect for people of all ages, families, large groups of friends, singles, and even couples. There is a possibility to participate in a guided tour. The groups can have up to 50 people. There are always two visits each day – 2.00 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. The guides elaborate on the history of the place, the ancient inhabitants, and the species of bats dwelling them. There is also a restaurant – Nerja Caves Restaurant, where the visitors can dine after the tour.
