General description: Cattle market NizwaCattle market Nizwa
Eastern Market (As Suq ash Sharqi, the East Suq) is a place known for its trade of spice, herbs and seeds. Further to the left, there are separated stalls with fruit, vegetables, meat and fish. However, most people gather here on Thursdays and Fridays in the morning, when a huge cattle market takes place.
People from all around Nizwa come here to trade goats, and sometimes cows or sheep. There are always numerous old and young animals walking among men, and all you can hear is the scream of the traders.
Tradition of cattle trade in Nizwa is several decades old and the local market is one of the most famous in Oman. It is especially busy here just before the feast of Eid Al Adha.
