General description: El Badi Palace

El Badi Palace used to be one of the largest palaces in Morocco. It was built in the sixteenth century at the request of one of the most important sultans in the history of the country: Ahmed El Mansour.

Currently, the magnificence of the palace can only be imagined based on the remains of the walls. In the seventeenth century, Moulay Isma'il emptied the palace and moved everything of value to Meknès, because he wanted to arrange in this city a second Versailles.

In addition to exploring the ruined walls one should also note a pulpit made in the thirteenth century in Cordoba and standing previously in the Koutoubiya Mosque.
