Country and People
Customs / Culture
The Cote d’Azur has been home to many visitors over the centuries and influences of past visitors from Greece, Rome, Britain and America can be readily seen. The international flavour gives the Cote d’Azur a unique role within France and, apart from the weather, explains why it is the most popular destination for both artists and holidaymakers.
Traditions
Glamour is the great tradition of the Cote d’Azur also known as the playground of the rich. There is nowhere else on earth that offers the combination of sea, sand, sophistication and culture, quite so successfully as France’s Cote d’Azur.
Religion
Various invaders have brought their own customs and religions but Roman Catholicism is definitely the most widely practised religion today

Getting Around
Airports / Car rental
Nice Airport is France’s third busiest airport and serves the whole of the Cote d’Azur although there is a small private airport at Mandelieu. Renting a car at Nice Airport is not a problem although it is wise at the height of the season to book in advance.
Public Transport
Trains, coaches and local buses serve the Cote d’Azur well and so, for those on a limited budget or who cannot drive, getting around is not a problem.

Culinary SpecialitiesThe Cote d’Azur restaurants are used to serving visitors from all over the world and often cleverly devise menus that reflect France’s reputation for haute cuisine but modify the choice for a wide variety of international palates including those from the Far East, Middle East, Britain and America.
Lifestyle
Life along the Cote d’Azur is good for those people who live and work in the area. There is no doubt that the international financial crisis has impacted on the Cote d’Azur to some extent but the super rich, by and large, have been unaffected by the global crisis and still anchor their massive yachts off-shore, stepping onto dry land to eat and be seen in some of the Cote d’Azur’s finest restaurants in Saint Tropez and Cannes.
Sights
The British during the reign of Queen Victoria were the prime movers in converting the south of France into a tourist destination. In the hills above Nice in Cimiez is an elaborate monument to Queen Victoria who spent many long winters living in the region.
The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild was built during the first decade of the 20th century by Baroness Beatrice de Rothschild. She filled the rose-coloured villa with paintings and sculptures and a fine collection of rare porcelain. Following her death, the property was left to the Academy of Beautiful Arts and is open to the public.

The “hotel of the Deux Frères” lies in the middle in the medieval place Roquebrune Cap Martin. This concerns school building from that 19. The hotel with about 150 rooms a pleasant size and is located in a very nice, car-free Green right next to the sea, quite a way out from the town of hyeres. Although the hotel is already older, it is in a good renovierungszustand and very well-kept and clean. On the complex there were mainly gravel walks, which with very sensitive Footwear not so ideal everyone's. The guests are mainly from the German speaking room and also from France, very pleasant, refined audience with lots of regular gue... Read more

We have this hotel because of the positive reviews end of August selected, and it was by far the worst, but most expensive hotel during our round trip. The outdoor area with a pool and lying areas is however quite nicely arranged and clean, but only to 'permitted' times be used. The breakfast is not included in the price, and Cote d'Azur-typically quite expensive; on the street to St. Tropez but a 24 hours open Open-air bakery, the excellent alternative represents.
Our room was below the road... Read more

the hotel is some floors laid out and you will enjoy a nice view over the sea. We had actually high expectations, but were totally disappointed. The hotel is musty, shabby, in need of renovation and the staff unfriendly and hard-working. Unfortunately.
Old furniture, not especially clean, the curtains ripped, terrace run down. Alone the view was great.
Service very poor. The staff totally unmarked plunged them into mourning, the poor breakfast buffet is little filled. If you afterwards ask, y... Read more
