Airports / Car rentalAirport Cairo (CAI) This airport has its own acronym CAI derived from its Egyptian name Cairo Airport and ranks among the most significant airports throughout Egypt. Public transport
Public transportation in the capital city of Cairo is not usually recommended for tourists. The only exception is the metro.
There are many reasons why you should not take the bus in Cairo. For example, it is almost always very crowded there, and the local inhabitants will not miss a single free space on the settlement which results in packed buses. If you do get on the bus, the tickets can be purchased from the driver directly.
Cairo Metro is the opposite of the bus and advisable if taking public transportation. The metro is clean, fast, safe and cheap. It operates from 6:00 am to 24:00 pm (May-September until 1:00). The only period when a subway is full of passengers is during the time of Ramadan.
