Known as the Sunshine State, the climate in Florida is sub-tropical in the north and truly tropical in the south around Florida Keys. The Seminole Native Americans were mostly driven out of Florida by the white settlers in the 19th Century although a few remained in the Everglades where their descendants still live. Former black slaves moved en-masse out of the State and so, today, the customs and cultures are principally white-American with a strong Cuban influence in the south around Miami.

Playing golf, avoiding the alligators when chipping near a lake or pond, eating outside in the yard under mosquito-proof mesh fencing at sunset, and swimming in the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean are just a few of the traditions in Florida.

We had the riu Florida beach for our families beach vacation selected. The catalogue was promissing, reality speaks but a other Language. This multi-story, very the old fashioned hotel is very well situated. Miami South beach, as there is nothing to moan. The size our room I would class as standard, the complex all in all in comparison to other hotel as rather small, what the pool area includes. We booked half-board. A outside appealing building with enough parking spaces before the rooms. The front desk was a little outdated/ musty designed, little inviting. The staff were alone in check in and equipped with telephone and waiting guests totally overwhelmed.
There were 2 queen size beds, each with only one cover, a desk with chair, a closet with an included safe, TV, shower/toilet and sink extra. As I have already mentioned, there is also a coffee machine, also a telephone.

the hotel itself look very nice out also the size and the cleanliness. And of course the location is great too, right next to the sea.
the room was extremely shabby, particularly the bathroom. Very nasty the carpet. He seems to be to be clean, looks however as if it were already 30 years inside. Only plus-it was clean cleaned. Coffee machine, fridge, TV-device.

the hotel is very beautiful, the most beautiful of our trip around Florida, which we had. We were only 2 nights there, were very satisfied and would have longer staying there. We booked a double room with 2 Queen beds and unfortunately a smoker's room, since nothing else other was more free. That was the only small criticism we could find, since the room very, very strong smoke smell, also because of its, that no window for opening was there.
