Country and People
Customs / Culture
The Seminole Native Americans were mostly driven out of Florida by the white settlers in the 19th Century although a few remained in the Everglades where their descendants still live. Traditions
Playing golf, avoiding the alligators when chipping near a lake or pond, eating outside in the yard under mosquito-proof mesh fencing at sunset, and swimming in the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean are just a few of the traditions in Florida.
Religion
Christianity is the principal religion practised in Florida.

Getting Around
Airports / Car rental
Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale airports are the main points of entry into Florida from where it is easy and advisable to rent a car.
Public Transport
Apart from planes and driving, there is a train service that begins and terminates in Orlando and links Florida to the southern United States. Greyhound buses operate up and down the State but driving a rental is far and away the easiest method of getting around.

Despite the good reviews on the net (great location on the beach, but that was already everything) it was the worst hotel we stayed in during our ten-day trip through Florida. Because of new year's Eve at the outrigger everything was fully booked, we were hardly any chance for a different room. Our room was directly above the Küchenablüftung (248), the constantly hummed and vibrates. Peace and quiet and sleep was not to be thought( the complex only ten o'clock in the evening until 5.30 switch... Read more

We booked this hotel as a stopover on our Florida round trip taken. The front desk was incredibly friendly. We were asked, whether we have special requests of the room (double or single beds, which floor) and received a small instruction on the sights nearby. The rooms are huge! Next to the bedroom is next to the wall a living area with a comfortable couch, upon request can pull out (perfect for families with children) beds, carpet, bathroom-everything spick and span clean (as we had in Ameri... We booked this hotel for a night during our Florida round trip, since we had tickets for a concert at Cruzan amphitheater had. The hotel lies conveniently located close to the motorway exit. During our stay there were mainly people on business trip and a very large wedding company. The rooms are very tastefully equipped and clean. A coffee machine was available, however no fridge. In the beds we had a great night's sleep-soft pillows and the mattresses were good. In the vicinity of the hotel ... Read more

Big and super swanky hotel yet the lobby still feels intimate and there is no snobbery.
Really nice, though I would have liked something that felt more beachy. It is super modern.
Great, though the staff could be a bit friendlier
Do remember that in the winter, Florida can have cold spells. The first day we got there was sunny but too cold for beach or pool lounging (roughly 50 degrees fahrenheit). Luckily it warmed up the next day but we spoke to a couple who said they didnt not get any beac... Read more
