GeographyMykonos is located in the northern part of the Cyclades, and more particularly to the north of Naxos. The island of Mykonos has an area of 85 sq km and its population increases in summer due to a strong presence of mass tourism. Its capital is Mykonos Town, also known as Chora. It is a village in the shape of an amphitheater with cubic white houses and the beautiful windmills. A few miles from Mykonos is the island of Delos.
Climate
Mykonos enjoys a Mediterranean climate. Summers are hot and dry with average temperatures above 24 degrees, while winters are mild and rainy, and temperatures ranging between 9 and 15 degrees.
Currency
The official currency is the euro.
Language
Modern Greek (also known as demotiki). The greek spoken today, which is a language derived from the vulgar and made official in 1976, is very different, both in pronunciation lexicon, from the ancient Greek. In the main tourist resorts, hotels, restaurants and shops they also speak English, French, German and Italian. You'll also find menus, directions and tourist brochures written in several languages.

FoodBecause of tourism they usually served international cuisine. Greek cuisine is based on fish and meat and enriched by numerous spices. Below are some of the major Greek specialties:

Attractions
If you go on the island of Mykonos you should be looking for fun. The most popular beaches are concentrated and where the major social events are: Paradise and Super Paradise. These beaches are also equipped for any kind of water sports. Most of the coastal area of Mykonos has been invaded by hotels.
Chora, the island's capital, is where you can admire beautiful white houses with blue doors and turquoise and its windmills located at the top of the hill. Chora is a succession of narrow streets where there are craft shops and boutiques. In Chora there are also some museums, like the Folk Museum and one for shipbuilding.
A particularly beautiful place is the beach of Agios Yiannis where you can admire a beautiful sunset. In this fishing village where you will find many taverns with a variety of tasty fresh seafood specialties.
Alevkandra is very beautiful, also known as Little Venice. In this small village are picturesque houses with wooden balconies located close to the sea.
