Hotel reviews for hotels in North East England
I would like to point out that the picture of the Roker Lodge Hotel is actually the Best Western Roker Hotel a few doors along. Roker Lodge is also run by Best Western but of inferior quality. If they showed a picture of the Roker Lodge no one would book it. I had the unfortunate experience to fall for this con a few days ago having booked with another site. It also has no star rating. Dirty, smelly , shabby, hole in ceiling in bedroom from which rain fell. Despite saying they don't, Best Wes... Read more

The Hotel was Clean, looks impressive from the Oustide and has excellent facilities for Weddings, Partys and Conferences ETC.
From the outside it has the apperance of a Grand hotel, beautiful chandeliers
and sweeping Stair cases.

Unbelievable dirty!
The floor was full of spots! None of the towels I had was clean. Using the shower without flip-flops: impossible. The toilet flash didn’t work at all. The bedding was smelly. And so on and so on.
Summarized:
I would never advice anybody to stay in this hotel. It’s probably better to sleep in the car then.

Hotel Lovelady Shield Country House l in Alston, North East England
We booked in for two days12@13th after reading previous comments it was a mixed bag, on the approach to the hotel the drive is FULL of potholes that need attention. Upon arrival at 3pm we were told the room was not ready ( did they not know the guests are coming?) and waited for 30 minutes for the room to be completed, that is room 15.
Well after that much time you would expect the room to be like a shining pin, well think again!! The bedroom was dusty ( I even wrote in the dust which was st... Read more
