The Chaaya Blue is located in the former crisis area of Sri Lanka from the days of terrorism. For two years, this conflict has been resolved, but the territory is very strongly monitored. If guard posts on the way to the hotel make you rather uncomfortable than secure, the trip can not be recommended until there are more peaceful times. The long journey on the badly drivable street (during civil war times no investments were made here), demands a little stamina, but is worthwhile!

Small, family-run hotel is right next to one of the most beautiful beaches of Sri Lanka; the price of $40 (low season!) American AC rooms with breakfast is this good location; the rooms are spacious and functional, the seat offers privacy; the pool is not very big and poorly maintained, but quite usable and well situated; in contrast to the website the kitchen is very poor, not very good and way overpriced; each at all is much too expensive (veg.
