Tenerife is an island in the Atlantic Ocean, lying near the north-west coast of Africa, however, belongs to Spain. It is the largest and most populous island in the Canary Islands. Climate / When to go?

Currency

Tenerife, though geographically located in northern Africa, is an integral part of the Spanish State, and therefore the European Union. Therefore, the applicable currency is here.


Language

Tenerife's official language is Spanish, but as a tourist place, we will not have problemuz agreement here is also in English.

Airports / Car Rental

The main means of transport to get to Tenerife is of course plane. On the island there are two airports: the airport Tenerife-North (Aeropuerto de Tenerife Norte) and the airport Tenerife-South (Aeropuerto de Tenerife Sur).

The island can also come. In Tenerife there are two ports: Port of the Holy Cross (Puerto de Santa Cruz) and the Port of Christians (Puerto de Los Cristianos). The first one is the biggest port of the Canary Islands.


Public Transport

Transport in Tenerife is mainly buses, which in the Canary Islands are called Guaguas. They are both city buses and intercity. The biggest stop in the center of transfer Intercambiador de Transportes de Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Taxis / Infrastructure

Taxis are easily available in towns on the island. Because they are tightly screwed by demand (many tourists for almost a full year), their price will not, however, belonged to the lowest.

Turning to infrastructure, to major motorways on Tenerife is one of two highways that run the perimeters of the island: TF-5 (Autopista del Norte) connecting Santa Cruz to the western part of the island, and TF-1 (Autopista del Sur) connecting Santa Cruz to the south of the island. In addition to the highways, there exists a good network of roads.

Events

The biggest event on the island is Carnival. Every year in February, the real madness begins: a series of parades, concerts and other musical events. The culmination of the whole game is to select the queen of carnival and the main parade through the streets of Santa Cruz. Colorful costumes, hot music lasts from afternoon to dawn.

Tourists arrive on the island, however, mainly due to the beaches and good weather. But we must remember that the sun shines here for almost twice higher than in Poland and we strongly discourage the few hours of sunbathing without proper creams with a very high filter.


Culinary Specialities

In the numerous restaurants and bars on the island reign light meals based on vegetables and seafood. To the freshly squeezed juice from citrus fruits.


Sights

Tenerife is certainly one of the main tourist destinations in Europe. Tourism generates over 50% of the GDP of the island, so we expect that we will find many things to see and experience.

In Tenerife there are two UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List: Teide volcano, together with the surrounding park and the town of La Laguna.

Mount Teide (full name: El Pico de Teide) is the highest peak in all of Spain - 3718 meters above sea level. It is surrounded by national park (Parque Nacional de las Cañadas del Teide) involved nearly 20,000 ha. Here, in addition to the scenic volcano, we can admire the incredible shapes of rocks and barren to specific vegetation. The views are truly amazing, I can say is not of this earth:) And probably because of Tenerife filmed "Star Wars": D

Tenerife is a beautiful beaches, both sandy and rocky. The most beautiful rocky cliffs of Teno massif can be admired in the town of Los Gigantes (Giants), which is a really well-chosen name;). The amount of these rocks dating back 800 meters, and the best admire them from the tourist boat that swim wherever you want.


Barancodel Infierno (Gorge of Hell) is another must-see program on the island. It is located within the city limits Adeje, is under strict protection (Special Natural Area). The gorge will see the beautiful waterfall and lush greenery surrounding it in an extraordinary manner contrasts with the typical image of the south.


If you spend your vacation with the little ones, you might want to go to Siam Park - a huge aquatic theme park. More than a dozen water slides, waterfalls, pools and lots of artificial waves - oh yes, we can revel here: DA being the theme parks, a mention of the Loro Park (park zoobotaniczny the north of the island with the largest number of parrots and great dolphin) and the Jungle Park (jungle in Europe ").


In Tenerife you will also see what is below sea level. Along the coast you can find numerous schools and more than thirty points of diving, where you can explore the marine flora and fauna, as well as sunken vessels. The best places to travel include underwater Las Galletas, Playa Paraiso and Punta de la RASC, Garachico, Puerto de la Cruz and Punta de Teno.
