Built in the 13th century, Alanya Castle is the famous landmark of the city.

The castle is located 250 metres high on a rocky peninsula providing magnificent views of the turquoise waters. The castle is surrounded by a 4 mile wall which features 140 towers.

In 2009 Alanya Castle was named anUNESCO heritage site.

Today, some parts of the castle are open to the public for viewing.

The winding road up to the castle is approximately 3.5kmlong. There is a bus which takes this route. The bus runs every hour from 9am-7pm costing TL1.25 from Hurriyet Meyani. For On the way up to the castle there are a few cafes and restaurants to get refreshments
