The temple was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Now only foundations and fragments remain at the site.Ephesus is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Turkish Aegean. Various tours offer the opportunity to explore the ruins including the theatre with a seating capacity of over 24000, a library with over 12000 scrolls and gymnasium. The auditorium was used for seating during the performances where it was common for men to wear masks on their faces which was an element related to the period of time in which the performances took place. The theatre was built in an oval shape to improve the acoustics and make it a better overall experience for the guests.
