Blue Lagoon, also known as Oludeniz is a small resort on the South West coast of Turkey. It is in the Fethiye district in the Mugla Provice, with the Babadag Mountains to the south of Fethiye. It is one of the beaches of the Mediterranean which is most frequently depicted in calendars or on postcards.
Blue Lagoonis a bay 600 meter wide beach at the mouth of Oludeniz; however, the beach is a pebble beach. Due to the lagoon being a nature reserve building is strictly forbidden. Over the years more tourists have come to the beach, resulting in it being very crowded during the high season.
On the contrary, it is regarded as one of the world’s best places to go paragliding due to the stunning view of the area.
The beach itself costs 2 euros for the day and the rental of 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella is 18 Turkish Lire (8.50 euros).
There is also a nature park beside the public beach which costs 3, 50 Turkish Lire. This beach may be less crowded than the other one.
The Climate at Blue Lagoon is Mediterranean. It is warm throughout the entire year and temperatures may go above 45 Celsius.
Tip: Wear shoes to make it more pleasant to walk on the beach.
