Reviews: Canaima Waterfalls - Salto Sapo
General description: Canaima Waterfalls - Salto Sapo
On the border of the Canaima lagoon, where palm trees grow right out of the water, the peaceful view is complemented by many waterfalls, which can be seen from very near by taking a boat to where the streaming water hits the calm lake. One of these waterfalls, the Salto Sapo, has a little pathway behind it, from where you can look through the water veil onto the peaceful lagoon! The lagoon is part of Canaima National Park in Venezuela, a 30,000 km² place of pure natural beauty. From the lagoon you can easily take a dugout to the world’s tallest waterfall, the Salto Angel, which falls down 1 km, offering quite a spectacle to its visitors.
The National Park can be visited by air only, from Caracas, Margarita Island, or Ciudad Bolivar airports, where you can charter a plane. The tours around the area are easily organized, there are many tour offers, which make everything much more relaxing for you.
The entrance fee for Canaima National Park is approximately US$ 4, which is Bs. 8,000. It is important to note that you will need to provide proof of having received a yellow fever vaccination prior to your visits – without proof you will face the dreaded needle in the Ciudad Bolivar airport!
