Description
One attraction for art lovers is one of the most beautiful private museums in the world, the Fondation Maeght, somewhat outside the village. The Catalan architect Josep Lluis Sert designed the structure of light-coloured concrete and red brick for the collectors Aimé and Marguerite Maeght, to house the works of artists such as Joan Miró, Georges Braque, Alberto Giacometti and Marc Chagall. The building blends in harmoniously with the surrounding Mediterranean landscape. Large sculptures are displayed outdoors. The museum contains a huge collection of Modern pieces and stages remarkable temporary exhibitions every year.
