Fort Eben-Emael is a former Belgiam Fortress located on the Dutch-Belgian border between Maastricht and Liège. It was built to defend Belgium against German attack. It was thought to be inpregnable but the Germans wiped it out pretty quickly from the air. It has been preserved by the Belgium army and can now be visited.
 
Visiting Fort Eben-Emael
Prior reservation is required but other than that the fort is almost always open. A selection of 4 different types of tours can be booked with prices ranging from €5 per person to €12 pp for a full on 7 hour expert tour (most suited to military schools).
