The Grand Arche or La Grande Arche de la Défense is a building and monument in the district of La Defense.Rather than being a monument to military victories, it is a representation to humanity.Inaugurated in 1989 to mark the bicentennial od the French Revolution
The Arch was a joint venture between the French president François Mitterand who launched a national design competition in 1982, Johann Otto van Spreckelsen a danish architect, Erik Reizel a danish engineer and Paul Andreu who took over when Spreckelsen resigned. It is used as governement offices and the roof is an exhibition center.
Visiting the Grande Arche
Open daily 10am to 8pm
From September to March is closes at 7pm
Adult: €10
Children and Students: €8.50
