General description: Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon was and is being carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona. The Grand Canyon National Park was created by President Roosevelt to protect the natural beauty of the area.
 
Natural Wonder
The Grand Canyon is huge! Snaking 277 miles through the mountains it reaches a width of up to 18 miles across and attains a depth of over a mile deep. Two billion years of Earth's history have formed this natural wonder. For many years it was the home of the Pueblo people, before the European immigration drove the Native Americans out.
 
The park is divided into the South and North rim. The different elevation means that the vegetation and scenery are considerably different on each side.
 
The South Rim does not have any closing times. The North Rim however is only open from Mid-May to Mid-October (due to snow)

Single person: $12
Permit valid for 7 days.
