Whoever is visiting London for its shopping should not go home without having visited Harrods!
A shoppers Paradise
Behind the ornamental terracotta facade and the green awnings you will find one of the world's most famous department stores which, since it opened in 1849, has boasted that it will deliver anything to anybody anywhere: "Omnia, Omnibus, Ubique". This London institution has more than 5000 employees and 300 departments. A particularly popular section of the store is the opulently panelled Art Nouveau Food Hall.
Egyptian flair and a memory of Princess Diana
Since 1985, Harrods has belonged to the Egyptian businessman Mohammed Al Fayed, and the fountain memorial to his son Dodi and Princess Diana in the Egyptian Hall has become a popular attraction.
Not for sweaty backpackers
Be aware that there is a dress code: sports shorts, flip-flops, cropped jeans and tops which reveal the stomach are not allowed, and rucksacks must be removed.
Visiting Harrods
Harrods is easy to reach with public transport. The nearest tube station is Knightsbridge on the Piccadilly line.
