Description
At 508 m long, this is the longest commercially operated pier in continental Europe. The land building includes a seashell museum, cinema, café, restaurant and shops, and the pierhead with its pyramid-like roof is now home to two restaurants. The pier complex, which also includes holiday apartments, is regarded along with the pier at Sellin on the German island of Rügen as the most delightful on the entire Baltic Sea coast, this was the case until 1958 when the structure was destroyed by arsonists.
The structure featuring shops, cafes, a cinema, a mussels museum, holiday flats and restaurants juts out 508 m into the Baltic Sea.
