Description
The city walls of Amersfoort, which achieved prominence thanks to the trade in textiles, fish and also beer, were replaced by a wider ring as a result of the city's growth. Only the Kamperbinnenpoort was preserved. This created space for the rampart houses, some of which are over 500 years old.
