Kiyomizu-dera Temple (清水寺 "Pure Water Temple") was founded in the wooded hills of Kyoto on the site of the Otowa Waterfalls. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Holy Water
The Otowa Waterfall has been incorporated in the Temple design and flows past the base of the Kiyomizu-dera's main hall. The water is divided into 3 separate streams and people come to drink the holy water. The streams are said to the bless the drinkers with longevity, academic success and a fortunate love life. Kiyomizu-dera is a Buddhist Temple and there are many different Buddhist shrines and relics on the site.
