Description
The most famous island building perches above the sea like a mother hen. From outside the church doesn't appear half as high and light as from inside. The main nave, around 110 m long, is fascinating with 14 slender columns, each just under 22 m high, and the huge rose window made of 1236 individual pieces of glass (11.5 m in diameter) in the main apse, which displays its gorgeous colours when hit by the sun's rays. The Gaudí candelabra above the altar is also enchanting, as is the Feeding of the Five Thousand in St. Peter's Chapel, a gigantic ceramic by Majorcan artist Miquel Barceló.
Enjoy the colours in the morning in the tallest and most splendid work of art on the island.
