A place travelers can visit Michelangelo's David
Reviews: Michelangelo's David
General description: Michelangelo's David
Michelangelo's David may well be the most famous sculpture given to us by the Renaissance. Michelangelo sculpted his masterpiece between 1501 and 1504 and it was this success which had him called back to Rome by the Pope to paint the Sistine Chapel.David and his copy
Michelangelo's David was given a place of honour on display on the Piazza della Signoria, the city's most famous square. David watched over that square for many years and the visitors watched him but in 1872 he was moved inside the Academy Gallery to protect him. The copy that stands on the Piazza today was made in 1910.
