Description
In this small town (population of 6000) on the Abelitz-Moordorf Canal, the moor museum illustrates in an impressive way the poverty endured by the people who colonised the moor in the 18th, 19th and even in the early 20th century. Their clay huts, which were covered with straw or reeds, and a colonist house have been reconstructed in the open-air section, a buckwheat field and a peat ditch illustrate how they used to make their living.
In Moordorf you can gain an impressive insight into what life was like before the tourists arrived.
