General description: National Air & Space Museum
The Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum (NASM) has the world's largest collection of historic spacecraft and aircraft in the world.Take a trip into Space
The Museum is a center of research into the the history of science of spaceflight and aviation as well as space geology and geophysics and the science of planets. Most of the exhibits are originals and many special exhibitions take place here. There was a lot of controversy in 1994 when the museum proposed an exhibition to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the atomic bombing in Japan. After many discussions and arguments it went ahead but was greatly reduced. The exhibition is now closed but you can still see the Star Wars exhibition.
