The monastery in Paleokastritsa designed with Greek monasticarchitecture is believed to have been founded in early 13th century.The church of the monastery is full of colour and artwork covering all thewalls and ceiling. Outside, the courtyards offer spectacular views over thesea. There is a lot of intricate tile work and a wishing well and plenty of beautiful plants.

The monastery is still being used daily by the locals. It isalso home to several Greek Orthodox monks who you will see going about theirdaily business.

There is a small gift shop selling hand made products and small olive oil bottles and squeezed by the monks.

Please respect the dresscode: Woman should have shoulders covered, no short shorts.
