Description
Elephant loo" is the term used in popular parlance to describe the round building of the Panorama Museum, which was constructed specially to house the largest oil painting in the world (measuring 14 x 123 m, completed in 1987). The painter Werner Tübke spent twelve years working on the picture depicting scenes from the Peasants' War. The landmarks of the town (population of 9000) are the Hausmannsturm tower and the leaning tower of the High Church of Our Dear Ladies which leans almost 4 m to the side and is alleged to be the most crooked tower in Germany.
3000 people can be seen on the giant picture at this museum in Bad Frankenhausen.
