The Baroque arena is still the Romans' favourite meeting place. A superb stage for impoverished actors and rich poseurs, mediocre painters and hawkers, idle celebrities and mongrels. The piazza's crowning glory, The Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, was made by Bernini, while the Neptune Fountain on the north side wascreated by Giacomo della Porta.

The area features old buildings and a beautiful church. The church is called the Church of Sant’Agnese in Agone and was completed in 1670. In the ancient times, the stadium was used to watch the games.

In the centre is the fountain La Fontana dei Fiumi. It has arocky structure supporting an obelisk and around it there are four statuesrepresenting four quarters of the world. The Nile, The Danube, The Gauges andThe Rio Della Plata.

Some of the palaces that overlook the square are: palazzo Pamphili, Palazzo Massimo Lancellotti, Palazzo Braschi.
