Water colors
The Plitvice National Park includes 16 lakes with water that ranges from beautiful turquoise to green, grey or blue. The colors are constantly changing depending on the light, the amount of minerals and many other factors.
Life of the National Park
Many plants and animals call the Plitvice lakes their home. There are hundreds of fish species, many different types of amphibia, reptiles including snakes and 140 species of birds. Many small mammals roam the park as well as some bigger species like the Lynx, Wolf and Brown bear, though they are very rare.
Climate at the Plitvice Lakes
In the winter average temperatures are around 2°c which means that the lakes are usually frozen during December and January. In the summer the termperature rises to an average of 17°c. The Spring and Fall are the rainiest seasons at the lakes.
Visiting the Plitvice Lakes
The lakes are right in the center of Croatia and are well connected to the main points of entry.
