Description
In the middle of Treptower Park lies one of the largest Soviet military cemeteries in Germany. What is impressive is not just the countless number of memorial slabs commemorating the lives of 5000 fallen soliders, but also the monumental, 12 m high bronze sculpture of a soldier carrying a rescued German child, and also the equally gigantic granite sculpture "Motherland". The cenotaph was built from 1947-49.
Monumental sculptures in Treptow at one of the largest Soviet military cemeteries in honour of those Russians who died in Berlin.
