Description
If you follow the lake road out of town, you will notice a group of outsize iron cacti - slowly rusting away - on your left-hand side, just before the Mythenquai Baths. Behind these cacti are two greenhouses which contain a unique collection of succulents (liquid storing plants) from dry regions all over the world. There are around 25,000 cacti, agaves, aloe vera, so-called "living stones", wood spurge and succulents from many other plant families. The collection also includes a herbarium, a collection of permanently preserved plants, and a seed collection with over 10,000 samples.
Around 25.000 exhibits can be found in the world's largest collection of cactuses and related plants.
