Description
The church is a little outside the centre in Töölö district. A hole was blasted into a rocky hill from above, and the top replaced with a glass and copper dome. The naked rock walls were left unchanged. The archaic space exudes great serenity and it is ideal for a moment of meditation or for concerts. The architects Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen completed the church in 1969.
In the heart of Helsinki: Blasted into a rock from above, many consider it to be the most beautiful church in Finland.
