The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an annual spectacle with takes place during the Edinburgh Festival in August and draws visitors from far and wide.
 
Scotland and the world
The Tattoo is a mix of deeply traditional Scottish culture and international guest performers. The show is watched on television by around 100 million people as well as a 217,000 live audience. This makes it one of the biggest shows in the world. It takes place in the open air just outside the castle gates at the top of the Royal mile. It is a mix of marching, drumming, piping, music, dance and light.
 
Visiting the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo
The Military Tattoo only takes place in August but The Spirit of the Tattoo, the Tattoo's interactive museum, is open all year round.
 
Tickets cost between £23 - £55. (£3 extra on Saturdays at 10:30pm due to the fireworks)
