The Thousand Islands are an archipelago of islands that link the USA with Canada across the Saint Lawrence River flowing from Lake Ontario.
 
1000 Islands
Islands range from around the size of 1 square foot to 100km squared. In order to be classified an island, it has to be larger than 1 square foot, support at least 1 living tree and be above water all year round.
 
Things to do on and around the islands
The 1000 islands are very popular for water sports as well as being home to many attractions. There are many boat tours which take tourists around the islands and there are many great photo opportunities as it is a beautifully scenic region.
