The heart of Broadway beats at Times Square. Super central and easy to find either on foot or with the subway. Right in the Theater district in Manhattan the bright lights and colorful billboards have made it a famous iconic symbol and landmark of New York City.

How Times Square got its name
In April 1904 Longacre Square was named Times Square after The New York Times newspaper moved its headquarters tothe Times Building which had just been built on the Square. Times Square developed to become a cultural hub and the theatres, music halls and upscale hotels still populate the area.

New Year’s Eve at Times Square
The annual New Year’s Eve ball droptakes place every December 31st at midnight. It started in 1907 and since then around a million people gather to watch the spectacle every year. As well as the ball drop, a lavish firework display marks the beginning of the New Year.
