Trevi Fountain or the Fontana di Trevi is situated in the Trevi rione in Rome.
 
The story of the Trevi Fountain
Rome's most popular water organ is on a small square surrounded by six-storey palazzi. With its construction in 1750 the Baroque popes created their last great monument, as their power was already on the wane. Oceanus, the divinity of the world oceans, tears through a triumphal arch with two horses.
 
Throw in a coin to be sure of your return
It is not only tourists who toss a coin into the fountain to be sure of returning to Rome. You're not even allowed to dip your little toe into Rome's most popular Baroque fountain, but everybody throws in coins.
