The historic estate of Tsaritsynois located in the South suburbs of Moscow stretching along the shores of the Tsaritsyno ponds. Its construction began in 1775 on the orders of Catherine the Great. This is Moscow’s largest museum-reserve, occupying an area of 700 hectares, and also a national historic and cultural monument. The estate was built in the pseudo-Gothic style under designs by architects Vasily Bazhenov and Matvei Kazakov, with a landscape park revealing pavilions, gazeboes, grottoes and bridges.Excursions, educational programs, concerts, festive events, the park and ponds, attractive for strollers, are all available for the visitors.
Large-scale restoration and landscaping of the park and the ponds was carried out in 2007.
