The Vrijthof in Maastricht is the most important and famous square in the city center. The square is watched over by Sint Servaas Basilica and the Sint Jan Kerk church. A lot of celebrations happen on this square and it is a popular place for both tourists and locals alike.

The square is surrounded by old style buildings which have been converted into shops and restaurants. Amongst the buildings you can also spot the former Head Post Office and the former Spanish Government house which is now the "Museum aan het Vrijthof". In the summer the restaurants fill the square with terraces and the place in transformed into the lively heart fo Maastricht.
