Not quite as good as expected - or as it should be
Due to the great recommendations left here earlier we visited the tavern on a Sunday night. We have to admit that most of the service guys are quick, friendly and still rather subtile. The menu card is international and well illustrated so you should be able to easily identify you meal. So far so good.
We had Chtipiti cheese and bread for starters: booth fresh, probably home made and delicious. Then the disaster started. We were served appetizers and main dished all at a time: my feta cheese with sesame oil, my mussel risotto and my girlfriends swordfish. The swordfish was ok, well grilled maybe a little dry and probably not fresh but from the freezer. My honey-sesame-feta came deep fried, most definitely also right from froster to deep fryer to table (it was still ice-cold in the middle) and with a typical cheap supermarket bread crust. The "risotto" was so far out of line that I had to return it. The 6 (!) mussels were old and tasteless. The rice was just plain rice without any taste. It was as much a risotto as a Punto is a Ferrari. Even the Austrian "chef" had to agree on that. His funny explanation: "Yes, it's not a risotto but if I write mussels with plain rice no one would eat it!" Perfectly right but I still wouldn't eat it.
All in all it was a sad experience and we rather not have been here tonight. The fact that despite the risotto misery they still charged me for it completed the experience.
My theory: recommendations 1 - 3 come from the chef himself and his friends. Otherwise I could not see how they came up...
