We did a USA west coast tour as a family: parents and two daughters.
At the beginning of our trip we spent 4 days in San Francisco and basically visited the most famous tourist attractions there: Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower, Fisherman's Wharf, Sausalito, Alcatraz, the Painted Ladies, the Cable Car Museum, Lombard Street and Pier 39.
At the end of our San Francisco stay, we booked a rental car and drove to las Vegas where we spent 3 days. Besides walking up and down the strip and experience the various hotels, I can definitely recommend to go up the Stratosphere Tower and enjoy at least one of teh three rides that you can find there. They also take pictures during the ride which are a great memory.
From Las Vegas, we did a one-day trip to the Grand Canyon. We booked a whole package that included a bus ride to the Grand Canyon, the entrance fee, a free meal and drink at one of the restaurants, a helicopter flight insode the Canyon and a boat ride on Colorado river. Although, it was kind of expensive, it was totally worth it.
Afterwards, we continued our tour in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the weather was not very California like, but we still could visit everything we wanted to: Malibu and Venice Beach, Chines Theatre, Rodeo Drive, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Universal Studios, Hollywood Hills, Santa Monica Pier and China Town. I would also recomment Fisherman's Village where you can get the best food.
At the end of our trip we took a plane to Seattle where we spent 4 days. Seattle is a beautiful city surrounded by water and mountains. But not only the landscape is worth a visit. Besides that, the city offers a lot, like the Space Needle where you should go to see the sunset, the Pike Place Market, the first Starbucks, Discovery Park, Alki Beach and many more. A great thing to do is to go to Kerry Park which offers an amazing view over the city and if the weather is good, you can see all the way to Mount Rainier (which is a nice place to go to as well). If you have time, you can also use one or two days to visit Vancouver/ Canada which is only a two-hours drive away.

As you can see, you can experience the most important places on the west coast of the USA in a short period of time!
