8th Day of Jami's Western USA Travel Journal - Thanksgiving
November 25th, 2010
Because of Thanksgiving, I haven't done anything particularly interesting today. Thus, I decided to write a small entry about Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is one of the big holidays in the US. It seems to be almost as big as Christmas. And the activities Americans do are very similar as well. However, both holidays have different origins. While Christmas (as everybody knows and like the name says) is a religious holiday, Thanksgiving is a worldly holiday although many Americans thank God for everything they have on that day. Its traditional origin came from the pilgrims who celebrated together with Native Americans their good first harvest.
Thanksgiving is the holiday when most of the families celebrate together. Mostly the celebration is a big feast with a even bigger turkey.
