Holy Ajmer Dargah
I belong to the state of Kerala in South India. It was my wish to visit the Holy Ajmer Dargah near Jaipur in the State of Rajasthan in North India again. So I started with my brother by Indigo
Airlines on 12th July 2010 from Kochi to Jaipur. There the Co-ordinator of the Hotel Shikha arranged airport pick up and stayed at the hotel overnight. The next morning we started to Ajmer in the
hotel's car which is about 135 kms away from Jaipur.
Ajmer Dargah
Holy Ajmer Dargah is one of the holiest places of worship in India. The tomb of the Saint Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chisthy is at Ajmer Dargah Sharif. The history says, apart from the common people, even the mighty kings of India, both Hindu and Muslim, have paid submissive homage to the great saint and have sought his mairaculous aid to solve their problems. I got a very best feeling in Ajmer Dargah which is unexplainable.
It was very crowdy in Ajmer with pilgrims. Reasonably good north indian dishes were available. As a pilgrim centre, for shopping, most of the items available near the Dargah were pilgrim related items such as lockets, stones etc-. Actually good stones (gems) are available in Rajasthan to fix in rings, lockets etc-.
Main activity in Ajmer was worship as a pilgrim. On return we visited Jaipur known as the Pink City which is very beautiful. A lot to see and shop in Jaipur but I couldn't, due to lack of time.
You can reach Jaipur by air. From there you can proceed to Ajmer by train/car/bus which will take around 3 hours. In my experience I can say that the best hotel to stay in Jaipur is Hotel Shikha facing the Deer Park and behind the Secratariat as the staff are service oriented. At Ajmer, reasonably priced good hotels are available close to the Dargah. Please avoid mediators like autorickshaw drivers, rickshaw pullers etc- to find any hotel there.
On return from Ajmer in the same car , we checked out from the hotel at Jaipur and returned to Kerala on 14th July 2010. As a whole I can say confidently that this was a very nice and comfortable trip, which gave us a mental peace after visiting Ajmer Dargah.
