The best undiscovered beaches...

Gorgeous sunny weather, beautiful beaches and Spanish hospitality, the Island of Majorca is a favoriteof mine. My top beaches are...

Platja Es Trenc
The last great undeveloped and well-preserved beach on the island is located in a protected area near the town of Colonia Sant Jordi. The pristine stretch of beach attracts many weekend tourists, holiday makers and even locals who prefer this rugged beach to the ones near the large hotel complexes. For lovers of the physical form, there is also a nudist section. This beach is best to visit just before the rush in the peak season.

Torrent des Marmols
This small cove hidden between the cliffs at Santanyí is one of my top tips. The beach is accessible only by foot, the walk over the cliffs and rocky sections takes a good hour. However the reward is surely worth it, a small deserted stretch of beach, protected by the surrounding rock. Here you can spend a relaxing day at the beach totally undisturbed!

Cala d’Es Moro

A small, protected beach area surrounded by fragrant pine trees. Cala d'es Moro is known for its’ exceptionally clear, turquoise water. The cove is a purely natural beach with no tourist facilities. Rocky areas help give the beach a private feel as it is not possible for people to sit too close together. It is best to get here before 11, to ensure you get a spot.

Cala Llombards
This is a favorite spot of the locals. The crystal clear waters and fine white sand make it one of the most beautiful on the island. A natural stone bridge also acts as a diving board to spring into the ocean. This beach offers more home comforts in the form of small beach bars, where you can buy drinks and snacks.

Platja des Caragol
To finish with, this is, in my opinion the best tip! Even in high season it is almost deserted, also making it popular with nudists. The footpath to the secluded bay takes about 30 minutes. The other alternative is to access the beach from the sea. You can easily rent a boat at nearby Colonia Sant Jordi.
