The city of dreams.

The city of dreams.

All Latin America’s capitals are unique, each has its beauty, inimitable beauty, each has its local national colouring, each has its own charm, fascination, they are similar and different at the same time; while being in one or another capital it seems to you that it is the most beautiful that the previous one. I liked, for example, Lima, the Peruvian capital, with its beautifully carved balconies of different styles, I liked La Paz, the Bolivian capital, the most Alpine in the world, I liked Montevideo, the symbol of which are the Uruguayans with their calabasas and thermosos in their hands, drinking constantly traditional mate, I was deeply impressed also by the former warlike Aztec’s capital – Tenochtitlan, the present day the majestic Mexico-city, which stands by itself, this large “ant-hill”, the most density populated in the world, where each stone is a history… But having been almost in all Latin America’s capitals I can say with assurance that this one killed me on the spot, I never got such impressions of any other city in the world; I was in a constant state of shock, there is no other city not only in Latin America, but in the whole world (to my mind). It’ s named “Paris of Latin America”, it’s named the city of dreams, legends, fairy-tales, myths, enjoys, love, passions, the “queen” city on the La Plata bank, the city of tango…All this is about the city of “good, favourable winds” – Buenos Aires.

I don’t know if there was anybody who glorified this city, but if I were a poet I would certainly do it. You fall in love with it at the first sight, no matter how and from where you come here: thought it were by ferry from Colonia del Sacramento (Uruguay), which is on the other bank of the La Plata river, when from a little colonial city in 50 minutes you find yourself straight away at Puerto Madero – one of the most modern barrios of the “silver” country capital of Argentina, where proudly rise the skyscrapers; thought it were by airplane from the international airport “Ezeiza”, - you find yourself in captivity; this city possesses not only the charm, it is unique, it is defiantly and madly nice, beautiful, it is stunning… All adjectives, which mean the beauty, you can refer with confidence to this city, that’s why I don’t put a full stop, I put dots, dots, dots…
