Wander Around New Orleans’ Cemeteries

Several cemeteries in New Orleans are so one-of-a-kind that they are in themselves some of the best New Orleans attractions. The city is below sea level, so graves are placed above ground in large raised elaborate tombs that sometimes are so big they look more like tiny houses, so the entire cemetery appears like a small village. The European-style Catholic cemeteries are peppered throughout the city but the most famous are St Louis Number 1 and Lafayette. www.neworleansonline.com/neworleans/attractions/cemeteries.html
