Two Days to fall in love with London

London is such a bit city it is impossible to see everything in one day, so at HolidayCheck we have picked a few interesting things it could be fun to do! They are all perfect for first time visitors to London. However some of the tips could be great for travellers that have been there before and want to discover a bit more…

Day One – the traditional London

The Tower of London is fantastic for first time visitors. Located on the north bank of the Thames it also has great views. This iconic building in British history has seen a lot in its time! It is not only a fantastic activity for those who love history but also for kids! We especially like the “Beefeaters” outside! They look an unfriendly bunch but are really very nice and welcome you into the attraction in an authentic way.

Why not spend some time after enjoying the river bank near the tower. The walk down the river from here to Canary Warf, the financial district is a pleasant stroll.

A trip to London can be made that extra bit special with a visit to the London theater district. The west end is a busy and lively place at night and is a great experience to see whether you go to a show or not. A top tip if you haven’t purchased theater tickets in advance. It to approach the box offices just before a performance and see if they have any discounted tickets. You may be sat in bad seats but the price will reflect this.

Day Two – Art and Culture

Start your day at the world famous Victoria and Albert Museum in South Kensington. A free museum, it contains many installations to do with arts and textiles. However the building itself is also a marvel. In the summer it is especially nice to enjoy the outside central courtyard. Here you can enjoy an ice cream, cake or traditional English cream tea!

The areas of Kensington and Chelsea are extremely up market areas of London. Walk around a little and see how the other half live. There are also lots of nice bars restaurants and cafes here if you want to treat yourself. The famous Harrods store is also not far away, and could be worth a visit.

In the afternoon head back on the Tube and go across to Covent Garden. Again more art but very different to what you will see in the V&A. Thus is street art! Covent Garden attracts a variety of different sorts of performers from around the world. You will see juggling, fire breathing, magician and even acrobatics. Defiantly a fun activity! There are also many shops stalls and cafes here to enjoy.
