Weekend Getaway to Dublin

Spend a weekend in the emerald isle, although this exciting city is only a short flight or ferry away from the UK, you will feel like you are in an entirely different world. The cost and availability of flights make Dublin an ideal destination for a city break. Here are a few HolidayCheck ideas of how to spend your time!

Discover and enjoy the culture
Famed for its drinking culture we think this city has a lot more to offer. Take a stroll around the Old Town and discover the beautiful architecture and charm of the cobbled streets. Buildings to take note of include; the University buildings of Trinity College, the Olympia Theatre, Christ Church Cathedral and the Bank of Ireland office at College Green. Walking the streets will also give you chance to decide which of the cities renowned pubs you would like to try.

Food and drinks

Of course Guinness comes top of the list! Available all over the city! Don’t drink too much, it is really filling. For real enthusiasts a trip to the factory and museum would be interesting. Food to look out for on restaurant menus includes Colcannon (vegetables and mash potatoes) and traditional Irish stew! If you are feeling flush, you could also splash out on some seafood from the local area.

Nightlife

The city is host to a lively nightlife. Checking out the bars and clubs is an experience not to miss. This city is unlike any other!

Make the most of your Sunday
Many of the museums are closed on Sundays. But if you still want to make the most of your time we suggest finding out the pubs that play live music and soaking up the atmosphere over a pint. Traditional Irish folk music could leave you will a fantastic memory of your trip!
